Initiatic Art Therapy

Initiatic Art Therapy, developed by Cornelia Elbrecht, is rooted in Sensorimotor Art Therapy. It is a body-focused, trauma-informed approach that uses art to facilitate transformation and healing. It emphasizes the body's role in experiencing and processing trauma, taking a bottom up approach, and encouraging self-awareness and emotional regulation.

Depending on what is arising in session, there are an array of art-making experiences incorporated. Some examples include - guide drawing, mandala exploration, mask masking, symbols and guided imagery, collage, and others.

Art therapy is about expression and putting color, shape, and texture to the parts of our inner world that feel hard to talk about.
